Arsenal close to signing Kepa Arrizabalaga
Arsenal is about to finalize the signing of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, coming from Chelsea, according to sources close to the club.
Kepa, who played last season on loan at AFC Bournemouth and the previous one at Real Madrid, has become a target for Mikel Arteta, who is looking for a reliable substitute for David Raya.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper could cost Arsenal £5 million (6.7 million dollars). Although the deal is not yet closed, talks are progressing positively.
Initially, Arsenal had interest in Joan García, Espanyol’s goalkeeper, but it seems that the 24-year-old player will remain in LaLiga with Barcelona.
During his loan spell at Bournemouth, Kepa kept nine clean sheets in 35 matches, contributing to the club having the sixth-best defense in the Premier League in the 2024-25 season.
Kepa will replace Neto at Arsenal, who returns to Bournemouth after his one-year loan.Kepa arrived at Chelsea in 2018 from Athletic Club with a seven-year contract, in an 80 million euro deal, becoming the most expensive goalkeeper in the world at that time.
