Ancelotti Confirms His Departure from Real Madrid and His Future with Brazil
Coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his imminent departure from Real Madrid, stating that “there is no need for drama.” The Italian coach also announced that he will take over as the coach of Brazil starting May 26, once the LaLiga season with the merengue club concludes.
Ancelotti, in a press conference prior to the match against Real Mallorca, was cautious when talking about the details of his departure, making it clear that the club will issue an official statement when it deems appropriate. “Madrid will publish a statement when they want, there is no problem,” he stated.
“Brazil is a great challenge, but until May 26th I am still the coach of Madrid. I want to finish this fantastic adventure well. Out of respect for this club, the fans and the players, I am totally focused.”

The coach avoided revealing when he knew he would leave Madrid, despite having a contract until June 2026. “What I talk about with the club is absolutely personal,” he commented. “Football, like life, is an adventure that begins and ends. When you arrive at Real Madrid, you know that one day it ends… I want to finish well here, that’s what my professionalism demands.”
Madrid’s 4-3 defeat to Barcelona in El Clásico, leaving the team seven points behind the LaLiga leaders, and their elimination in the Champions League quarter-finals and the defeat in the Copa del Rey final, seem to have precipitated the decision.
Ancelotti argued that “perhaps the club needs a new impetus.” “These are normal things in life, there is no need for drama… Maybe it was time for a change, that’s all. It’s a mutual decision to end here.”
The Italian, who has been linked with the Brazil national team manager position, did not want to reveal why the CBF announced his signing on Monday, before his departure from Madrid was formalized. “Everyone can act as they wish,” said Ancelotti, denying feeling uncomfortable with the situation.
Ancelotti also referred to the possible arrival of Xabi Alonso as his successor. “I have a lot of affection for Xabi Alonso,” he said. “I don’t have much advice to give him, because he has all the tools to be a great coach in the future.”
