Al Nassr Seeks to Extend Cristiano Ronaldo’s Contract

Al Nassr is in talks to renew Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract, according to the club’s sporting director, Fernando Hierro. The future of the Portuguese star in the Saudi team is uncertain, as there are other clubs interested in signing him.

“We are going to work to renew his contract so that he continues with us, and there are many clubs interested in signing him.”

Iron’s statements come after Ronaldo, following the last match of the Saudi Professional League season, suggested that it could be his last appearance with Al Nassr.

Ronaldo, whose contract ends on June 30, has been the top scorer in the Saudi league for the second consecutive season, setting a record with 35 goals in his first full season with Al Nassr.

Recent reports indicate that Ronaldo has received an attractive offer from a Brazilian club, which would give him the possibility of participating in the next Club World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo's future is the subject of growing speculation.

The winner of five Ballon d’Ors arrived at the Saudi club in December 2022 after leaving Manchester United.

Hierro highlighted Ronaldo’s importance to Saudi football, stating that his arrival has opened doors to high-level players and boosted the league’s growth.

“Cristiano has opened up football in this country to the world. It’s phenomenal that he had the courage to come here, stay here, and open up the Saudi Arabian league to the world. It’s an extraordinary milestone.”

Despite scoring 99 goals in 105 matches for Al Nassr, Ronaldo has only won the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023 since his arrival.

In the current season, he scored 25 goals in the league, but Al Nassr finished in a disappointing third place, missing out on a spot in the AFC Champions League.

Ronaldo will join the Portugal national team next week for the UEFA Nations League finals.
