Aitana Bonmatí Makes History with Her Third Consecutive Ballon d’Or
The Barcelona and Spanish national team star, Aitana Bonmatí, has been awarded her third consecutive Ballon d’Or. This achievement places her in a select group, joining legendary figures like Michel Platini and Lionel Messi, as the third person in football history to achieve this feat.
Bonmatí has conquered all possible titles at club level with Barcelona, leading the team to a domestic treble last season.
In addition, she has three Women’s Champions League titles, as well as the World Cup and the UEFA Nations League with Spain.
Despite these successes, Spain did not achieve the title of the European Championship this year, falling to England.
Bonmatí surpassed her teammate in the Spanish national team, Mariona Caldentey, in the voting. Caldentey, who joined Arsenal last summer, contributed to obtaining the most important award in the team’s history, the Champions League.
