Carlos Ulberg Imposes His Power with a First-Round KO

Carlos Ulberg demonstrated his dominance in the UFC octagon by knocking out Dominick Reyes in the first round during the UFC Fight Night in Perth. Ulberg, ranked third, extended his undefeated streak to nine fights since February 2022, solidifying his position as a top-level contender in the division. His performance positions him as a title contender, especially before the UFC 320 championship fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira. Despite being the favorite, Ulberg faced a Reyes who came from a streak of three consecutive victories. From the start, Ulberg took control, maintaining the initiative and preventing Reyes from connecting significant blows. A left hook seemed to affect Reyes, and Ulberg continued to pressure. With less than a minute left in the round, Ulberg seized the opportunity. A left hand destabilized Reyes, followed by a powerful right hook that sent him to the canvas, ending the fight.

My goal with Reyes was to box him, and he felt the power from the beginning. I saw in his eyes that he didn’t want to feel that again, so at the next opportunity I went with the two and knocked him down.

Ulberg, after receiving the ovation from the public in Perth, turned his attention to the title fight next week.

Ulberg also confirmed his request to be the official alternate for the UFC 320 main event.

I am here to break records, this is what I want to do. I don’t think anyone has fought a fight and the following week fought for the title. And that’s what I foresee. If they can make me the substitute, that would be incredible.
