In a day full of emotions for tennis, Spain achieved an epic comeback against Denmark to secure their place in the Final 8 of the Davis Cup. However, Australia did not have the same luck and fell to Belgium.

Spain: Historic Comeback

The Spanish team, despite not having Carlos Alcaraz, managed to overcome an adverse start in Marbella. After losing the first two matches and being at a disadvantage in the doubles, Jaume Munar and Pedro Martínez kept hopes alive by defeating August Holmgren and Johannes Ingildsen with scores of 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. Martínez even saved a match point in the first singles before securing the victory over Holger Rune with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (3). Pablo Carreño Busta sealed the comeback by defeating Elmer Møller 6-2, 6-3, marking the first time in Spanish history that they achieved a victory of this nature.

Australia: Insufficient Effort

Australia also attempted a comeback after Alex de Miñaur defeated Zizou Bergs 6-2, 7-5. Previously, Rinky Hijikata and Jordan Thompson won the doubles against Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen in a tight match that ended 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-4. However, Raphael Collignon, world number 91, secured the victory for Belgium by defeating Aleksandar Vukic 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-3.

United States vs. Czech Republic

On Saturday, the Czech Republic, after a tough match, defeated the United States in Florida. The American pair formed by Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek won the doubles against Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik with scores of 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-4.

Jiri Lehecka tied the series by defeating Taylor Fritz 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, and Mensik secured the victory for the Czechs by defeating Frances Tiafoe 6-1, 6-4.

Furthermore, Argentina, Austria, and France joined Germany to secure their place in the finals in Bologna, after defeating the Netherlands, Hungary, Croatia, and Japan, respectively. Italy, the defending champion, is already qualified for the final round in November as the host country.
