The energy drink giant, Red Bull, has expanded its sports portfolio with the complete acquisition of the first division rugby team, the Newcastle Falcons. The news, confirmed this Tuesday, marks a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion strategy in the world of sports. The club has been renamed Newcastle Red Bulls for the new season, which will begin next month. The company has stated that this initiative will adopt “the innovative approach that Red Bull has applied to its sporting projects around the world”. Red Bull already has participation in several soccer teams, including RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and Leeds, as well as a team in Formula 1. Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp recently took on the role of Red Bull’s global head of football. Newcastle has won five major titles in its history, including the league championship in 1998. Newcastle’s last trophy was the national cup in 2004.

Together, our goal is to elevate rugby to new heights and offer unforgettable moments to our fans,” declared Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments at Red Bull.
