Rangers Activate Joc Pederson: Star Returns After Hand Fracture

The Texas Rangers activated designated hitter and first baseman Joc Pederson from the 10-day injured list on Sunday.Pederson, who was out for two months due to a fracture in his right hand, batted fifth as the designated hitter in the final game of Sunday’s series against the Atlanta Braves.The 33-year-old player was hit by a pitch from White Sox right-handed pitcher Bryse Wilson on May 24 in Chicago.Before the injury, Pederson batted .131 with two home runs and six RBIs in 46 games.Two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion, Pederson has a career batting average of .237 with 211 home runs and 555 RBIs in 1,318 games with six teams.He played for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2014 to 2020.To make room for Pederson on the 26-man roster, the Rangers optioned infielder Michael Helman to Triple-A Round Rock.Helman, 29, batted .182 with a home run and four RBIs in eight games with Texas this season.
