Roger Federer Dazzles in San Francisco with Tricks and Smiles
San Francisco witnessed the unparalleled talent of Roger Federer, who displayed his magic in a series of exhibitions that left young tennis players speechless. The 20-time Grand Slam champion took advantage of his visit to the Laver Cup at the Chase Center, an event he supports and promotes, to participate in the inauguration of six renovated courts at John McLaren Park. This project is part of the Community Legacy Project that is carried out at each tournament venue. Federer, with his characteristic enthusiasm, shared moments with Yannick Noah, captain of the European team for the tennis exhibition. Amidst laughter and strategies, the Swiss showed his passion for the sport. The Swiss tennis player signed autographs and took photos with fans, and even played a few points with the mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie.Federer, who retired three years ago at 41, did not hide his desire to play on the black court of the Golden State Warriors stadium.“It’s incredible to come to a public park like this, spend time with children, inspire them and talk about tennis. I feel very happy to be here and to see what we have achieved with the Laver Cup. The last time I was here, in March, they were very kind to me, so I’m happy to be back”

While Casper Ruud and others have already practiced on the court, a formal practice day is scheduled for Thursday so that fans can see the stars. Patrick Rafter, assistant to Team World captain Andre Agassi, eagerly anticipates the support of the public in a stadium where Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is usually the main attraction.“It looks very special. I’m a little sad that I can’t play, because I would love to. I spoke with Tim Henman at the hotel and told him: ‘This would be an incredible place to play tennis’. I will miss it, but I will enjoy it as a fan”

“They are important names all over the world, and Stephen Curry is one of the most prominent. I hope we can meet them all. We are in an incredible place. I didn’t realize so many people could fit: 18,000, it’s huge. Being here and playing tennis will be great. Just seeing some of the guys warm up is an impressive setting”
