UFC Rankings Analysis: Brendan Allen Climbs in Middleweight

The main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night saw Reinier de Ridder, initially the favorite, outmatched by Brendan Allen. Although De Ridder dominated the start of the fight, Allen managed to endure and wear down his opponent, forcing the fight to be stopped before the fifth round. Allen’s victory was even more remarkable considering that he entered the fight as a replacement for Anthony Hernandez, who withdrew due to injury. This triumph not only consolidated Allen’s position in the middleweight division but also altered the balance of power in the ESPN rankings, surpassing De Ridder. In other news, Francis Ngannou was removed from the rankings due to inactivity. Changes are expected in several weight categories next week, with nine ranked fighters competing at UFC 321 this weekend.
