Axelle Berthoumieu’s Suspension Reduced for Bite at Rugby World Cup
French rugby player Axelle Berthoumieu has had her 12-match ban reduced to 9 matches after appealing the sanction imposed for biting a rival in the World Cup quarter-final match against Ireland.
Berthoumieu admitted to biting Aoife Wafer during the 18-13 victory at Sandy Park last Sunday. Initially, a 12-match ban was imposed on him after being evaluated by an independent committee.
Error in the procedure led to the reduction of the sanction.
