Mitchell Warns England About the Importance of Fundamentals After Six Nations Victory

England coach John Mitchell has emphasized the need for his team to stay focused on the basics of the game, after the “Red Roses” secured their thirty-first consecutive victory in the Six Nations tournament last Saturday.

England, a dominant team in women’s rugby, seeks to secure their sixth consecutive Six Nations title and has their sights set on winning their first World Cup, which will be held this summer.

Despite Wales scoring the first points in Saturday’s match in Cardiff, Mitchell’s team recovered and managed to score 11 tries, resulting in a resounding 67-12 victory. Ellie Kildunne, World Rugby Player of the Year, shone with a hat-trick in eight minutes.

We didn’t start particularly well, but we grew into the second half and built good pressure. I’m very pleased with the way we responded to what Wales did to us.

I believe we are a team that cannot afford to get bored with the fundamentals, because when our fundamentals are deficient, that lets us down and draws the opponent into the game.

England’s next Six Nations match will be against Ireland in Cork on April 12.
