Red Bull Expands its Sporting Empire: Acquires Newcastle Falcons

The energy drink giant, Red Bull, has extended its presence in the sports world by acquiring the entirety of the first division rugby team, Newcastle Falcons. The news was confirmed this Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the company’s sports strategy. As part of this acquisition, the club has been renamed Newcastle Red Bulls, preparing for the start of the new season next month. This change symbolizes the integration of the innovative approach that Red Bull has applied in its global sports initiatives. Red Bull already owns stakes in several soccer teams, including RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, in addition to a Formula 1 team. Recently, Jürgen Klopp, former Liverpool manager, took on the role of Red Bull’s global head of football. Newcastle has won five major titles throughout its history, including the league championship in 1998. Their last triumph was the national cup in 2004.

Together, our goal is to elevate rugby to new heights and offer unforgettable moments to our fans.

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments at Red Bull
“We are delighted to have acquired the Newcastle Red Bulls and look forward to empowering the club to reach its full competitive potential,” added Mintzlaff.
