Red Bull Expands its Sporting Domain: Acquires Newcastle Falcons
The energy drink giant, Red Bull, has expanded its sports portfolio with the complete acquisition of the first division rugby team, Newcastle Falcons. The official announcement was made on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the company’s strategy. The club has been renamed Newcastle Red Bulls, preparing for the start of the new season next month. According to a statement, this transition will incorporate “the innovative approach that Red Bull has implemented in its sports initiatives worldwide”. Red Bull already owns stakes in several football teams, including RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, as well as a Formula 1 team. Recently, Jürgen Klopp, former Liverpool coach, took over as Red Bull’s global head of football. Newcastle has won five major titles throughout its history, including the league championship in 1998.
