R360 Postpones Launch Until 2028
The expected R360 rugby league, which promised a revolution in the sport, has postponed its launch until the year 2028. The decision, announced recently, marks a significant change in the initial plans of the competition. Originally planned to begin next year, the launch has been delayed for various reasons, according to the organizers. Among the causes mentioned are the need for “greater commercial certainty” and a “significantly more favorable environment for players and fans”. Despite the postponement, the league confirmed that it has secured the participation of players from all top-tier rugby nations.Tindall, a key figure in the project, explained that launching the league under tight deadlines would not meet the standards established for R360, nor would it generate the long-term commercial impact that the sport deserves. The league also highlighted its commitment to the players: “From day one, our commitment to the players has been unwavering. Many of the best players in the world, both female and male, continue to show great interest in joining R360. We want them to thrive, not be subjected to unnecessary pressure.” The league’s ambition is to “complement” the international rugby calendar, following the first tour of the Women’s Lions and the 2027 Rugby World Cup. In addition, Martin Gilbert, a Scottish financier, was confirmed as chairman of the R360 project. The decision to move our launch to 2028 is strategic and based on the opportune moment.
