R360 Postpones Launch Until 2028

The expected R360 league, a project that sought to revolutionize club rugby, has postponed its launch until the year 2028. The initiative, which was initially scheduled to begin next year, has justified this decision for various reasons. Among the reasons mentioned are the search for “greater commercial certainty and a significantly more favorable environment for players and fans”. Despite the delay, the league has confirmed the signing of players from every top-tier rugby nation.

The decision to postpone our launch until 2028 is a strategic decision based on time.

Mike Tindall, former England player and key figure in the new league
Tindall added that launching the project under tight deadlines would not meet the standards set for R360, nor would it generate the long-term commercial impact that the sport deserves. The league has also highlighted its commitment to the players. “From day one, our commitment to the players has been unwavering. Many of the best players in the world, both female and male, continue to show great interest in joining R360. We want them to thrive, not be subjected to unnecessary pressure,” they stated. The league has added that its objective is to “complement” the international rugby calendar, following the Lionesses’ inaugural tour and the 2027 Rugby World Cup. Martin Gilbert, a Scottish financier, has been confirmed as chairman of the R360 project.
