Ojomoh Shone in the 12: English Boost for the Six Nations

Max Ojomoh revealed that the abundance of talent in England’s midfield was the inspiration for his outstanding performance at the Allianz Stadium against Argentina. Ojomoh, who came on as a late substitute at inside centre following Fraser Dingwall’s injury due to a strain, delivered a Player of the Match performance, scoring a try and assisting in two more. This poses a challenge for Steve Borthwick ahead of the start of the Six Nations against Wales on February 7, with Ojomoh, Dingwall and Seb Atkinson competing for a starting position in a position that has historically been problematic for England.

“A year ago, people were worried about a crisis in the center,” Ojomoh said after winning his second cap, as Steve Borthwick’s men completed an autumn sweep.

“Now I see Seb, Fraser, Ollie Lawrence, Luke Northmore and many number 12s emerging, and that kind of competition drives everyone to perform at a higher level.

“It’s a very competitive position, so there are many contenders for a spot on the field. If you’re in shape, you move forward.

After opening the scoring with a try in the 10th minute, he set up tries in each half for Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Henry Slade. Feyi-Waboso scored after catching Ojomoh’s pass at full speed, while Slade benefited from his teammate’s run and pass to score a crucial try.

“My favorite part was the cross kick because I had never done it in the Prem,” said Ojomoh.

“I’ve tried it when I’ve had penalty advantage and missed them all, so it was a great moment for it to work. And to kick it to a very good friend like Manny [Feyi-Waboso] – I’m glad he scored the try.

“I was really surprised by the offload. I saw Sladey and thought ‘nothing to lose, I might as well give it a go’.

England achieved their eleventh consecutive victory by defeating the Pumas and enters the Six Nations as a serious contender for the title.

“I’m very happy for the team, who have achieved four out of four this month. It’s a great way to finish,” said Ojomoh.
