Max Ojomoh revealed that the abundance of talent in the English midfield was the inspiration behind his outstanding performance at the Allianz Stadium against Argentina on Sunday.
Ojomoh, who came on as a late substitute at inside centre after Fraser Dingwall was ruled out with a strain, responded with a stellar performance that earned him the Player of the Match award, scoring a try and assisting on two more.
This poses a dilemma for Steve Borthwick ahead of the Six Nations opener against Wales on February 7, with Ojomoh, Dingwall, and Seb Atkinson competing for a starting spot in a position that has been problematic for England.
“It’s a very competitive position, so there are many contenders for a spot in the field. If you’re in shape, you move forward.” After opening the scoring with a precise annotation in the 10th minute, Ojomoh assisted in tries for Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Henry Slade in each half. Feyi-Waboso scored after catching Ojomoh’s cross-pass at full speed, while Slade benefited from his teammate’s run and pass to get a crucial try. Ojomoh commented on his play:“A year ago, people were going crazy about the crisis in the center. Now I see Seb, Fraser, Ollie Lawrence, Luke Northmore and many number 12s emerging, and that kind of competition drives everyone to perform at a higher level”.

“I was very surprised by the offload. I saw Sladey and thought ‘nothing to lose, I might as well try'”. England achieved their eleventh consecutive victory by defeating the Pumas and enters the Six Nations as a true title contender. Ojomoh concluded:“My favorite part was the cross-pass because I had never done it in the Prem. I’ve tried it when I’ve had a penalty advantage and missed them all, so it was a great moment for it to work. And to kick it to a very good friend like Manny [Feyi-Waboso] – I’m glad he got the try”.

“I’m very happy for the team to have achieved four out of four this month. It’s a great way to finish. It’s been a very good campaign from a very well-knit team. It’s good to be a part of it”.
