The Lions Dominate in Their Australian Debut

The British and Irish Lions began their summer tour of Australia with a resounding 54-7 victory over Western Force in Perth on Saturday.

The Lions hooker, Dan Sheehan, scored in the first minute of the match at Optus Stadium, but the visitors had to fight during a well-contested first half, with a score of 21-7 at halftime.

The situation changed radically after the break, with tries in the second half from Tomos Williams, Elliot Daly, Garry Ringrose, Joe McCarthy and Alex Mitchell, which helped the Lions surpass the fifty-point mark.

The result is not a big surprise, as this match was expected to be one of the easiest on the Lions’ schedule in Australia, with more important challenges against the Queensland Reds, ACT Brumbies and the AUNZ Invitational Team to come.

Even so, this will provide a great confidence boost to the team, who suffered a 28-24 defeat to Argentina in their farewell tour in Dublin last week.
