John Mitchell Considers Coaching the British and Irish Lions

John Mitchell has expressed his interest in coaching the British and Irish Lions women’s team on their tour of New Zealand. Mitchell, who led the Red Roses to victory in the Women’s Rugby World Cup, is now the favorite to lead the tourists on their first three-match tour of New Zealand in 2027. The coach still has to decide whether to extend his contract with the RFU, which expires at the end of the 2026 Six Nations. Mitchell took over as head coach of the England women’s team in 2023, and the Red Roses have won every match under his direction, including the victory in Saturday’s World Cup final against Canada. As the celebrations continue, Mitchell will take some time before deciding on his next move.

I’m still part of the next chapter, we have a Six Nations in April. I have a lot of time to think about it too.
