England Makes Changes to Face Australia in the Women’s World Cup

England coach John Mitchell has made adjustments to his team for the upcoming World Cup clash against Australia on Saturday, highlighting Jess Breach’s participation in her 50th match with the national team. Only the Breach’s extreme, along with center Megan Jones and second-row Rosie Galligan, retain their positions from last weekend’s resounding 92-3 victory over Samoa, a result that secured England a place in the quarter-finals. The tournament hosts will be looking to advance as Group A winners, and Mitchell has opted to return to his starters, with 14 of the fifteen players who started in the 69-7 victory over the United States two weeks ago ready to participate in Brighton. Breach scored a hat-trick against Samoa, surpassing 50 tries for his country and is preparing for his historic appearance eight years after his international debut, when he achieved six scores against Canada.

Reaching 50 international matches for your country is a testament to the hard work and dedication invested over several years, not only by the player, but also by those who support her daily.

Breach scored a hat-trick against Samoa last weekend. Tournament captain Zoe Aldcroft has already been ruled out of the match against the Wallaroos due to a knee contusion, while center Emily Scarratt has not been risked due to a shoulder nerve injury. Alex Matthews will assume the captaincy armband in Aldcroft’s absence for the second time in her career, while Holly Aitchison returns from an ankle injury to take a place on the bench. Mitchell added: “We want to build on our opening tournament matches and finish the group stage with a good performance against Australia.” Brighton has been a great host for us this week. It’s a new venue for the Red Roses, one that has a history of World Cup magic. We are excited to see thousands of our supporters come to the south coast and support the girls.”
