England Makes Changes to Face Australia in the World Cup

England coach John Mitchell has made significant changes to the team that will face Australia this Saturday in the World Cup, highlighting the presence of Jess Breach, who will celebrate her 50th match with the national team. Breach, along with center Megan Jones and second row Rosie Galligan, are the only players keeping their place in the starting eleven after the convincing 92-3 victory over Samoa last week, a result that secured England a place in the quarter-finals. The tournament hosts will seek to advance as Group A leaders. Mitchell has decided to bet on his key players, with 14 of those who started the match against the United States two weeks ago, in which England achieved a 69-7 victory, ready to play in Brighton. Breach, who scored a hat-trick against Samoa, surpassing 50 tries with his country, is set for his 50th match, eight years after his international debut, where he scored six tries against Canada.

Reaching 50 matches with your country is a testament to the hard work and dedication over the years, not only of the player, but also of those who support her daily.

Mitchell added: “Jess should be incredibly proud of her achievement and we are eager to see her on the field on Saturday”.

Zoe Aldcroft, the tournament captain, has already been ruled out for the match against the Wallaroos due to a knee contusion, while center Emily Scarratt will not be risked due to a shoulder injury. Alex Matthews will assume the captain’s armband in the absence of Aldcroft, this being only the second time in her career, and Holly Aitchison returns from an ankle injury to take a place on the bench. Mitchell added: “We want to build on our initial tournament matches and finish the group stage with a good performance against Australia.” Brighton has been a great host for us this week. It’s a new venue for the Red Roses, one that has a history of magic in the World Cup. We are excited to see thousands of our supporters come to the south coast and support the girls.”
