Captain Maro Itoje expressed his enthusiasm for the potential of the English team, although he emphasized that there is still a long way to go to achieve their goals. England’s victory over Argentina, with a score of 27-23, marked their eleventh consecutive win in test matches this year. This means they have remained undefeated at home throughout 2025, with their last defeat being in the Six Nations in Dublin against Ireland in February. Since then, the team led by Steve Borthwick has achieved victories against Scotland, France, New Zealand, and Australia, among others. The team’s depth has also improved, as demonstrated by the outstanding performance of Max Ojomoh, who was chosen as the player of the match in his second test match. Itoje was satisfied with his autumn campaign, which included victories over the Wallabies, the All Blacks, Fiji and Argentina, but urged caution and avoided getting ahead of himself.
I’ve been part of the England team for several years and I’m as excited now as ever.
Maro Itoje

Coach Borthwick agreed that the team has progressed both as a unit and individually. You only have to watch this match to see that we have a lot of work to do, but I think there is a real enthusiasm among the group of players to do it.
Maro Itoje
Borthwick added that the autumn series has allowed us to continue with that development. The team is following the progress we’ve discussed. We said it’s a journey, and I’ve said it several times, I’m not sure they necessarily believed me, about the level of experience in the team, the matches together, the level of experience coming off the bench.
Steve Borthwick
