Itoje Highlights England’s Potential, but Urges Caution
The England captain, Maro Itoje, expressed his enthusiasm for his team’s potential, although he emphasized that there is still a long way to go to achieve their goals. After the 27-23 victory over Argentina, which adds up to 11 consecutive wins in test matches this year, Itoje reflected on the team’s progress. England’s unbeaten home streak extends to all of 2025. Their last defeat was in the Six Nations against Ireland in February. Since then, the team led by Steve Borthwick has beaten Scotland, France, New Zealand, and Australia, among others. The team’s depth has also improved, as demonstrated by the outstanding performance of Max Ojomoh, who was named player of the match in his second test match. Itoje was satisfied with the autumn campaign, which included victories over the Wallabies, the All Blacks, Fiji and Argentina. However, he urged caution and avoided getting ahead of himself. I have been part of the England team for several years and I am as excited now as ever.
Borthwick also agreed that the team has progressed both individually and as a whole.I believe we have made progress and I am very excited for the future. The team has a long way to go to become the team we want to be, but that’s the exciting part.
Maro Itoje
The fall series has allowed us to continue with that development. The team is progressing as planned. We’ve said it’s a journey, and I’ve mentioned several times, I’m not sure if I’ve been believed, about the level of experience in the team, the matches together, the level of experience coming off the bench.
Steve Borthwick
