Gatland, former Wales coach, will advise Uruguayan Peñarol in playoffs

Warren Gatland, former Wales coach, joins Uruguayan club Peñarol as an advisor for the remainder of the season. The New Zealander coach, after finishing his second period in charge of the Welsh national team in February, following a streak of 14 consecutive losses, is now joining Peñarol for the Super Rugby Americas playoffs.

The legendary New Zealand coach joins Peñarol as an advisor to head coach Ivo Dugonjic and all Peñarol staff to put all his knowledge at the service of the team.

The Peñarol team is mostly made up of players from the Uruguayan national team, which is seeking to qualify for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
