England Repeats Lineup for World Cup Final Against Canada

England have confirmed their starting lineup and substitutes unchanged for Saturday’s World Cup final against Canada, to be played at Allianz Stadium. This decision reflects the confidence in the team that overcame the challenge of the semi-final against France, giving them the opportunity to fight for the world title for the first time since 2014. The selection means that center Megan Jones, nominated for world player of the year, and winger Jess Breach, have been starters in the six matches of the Red Roses in the tournament. After her outstanding performance against France, where she scored two tries and was named Player of the Match, Ellie Kildunne will lead the English attack against Canada, a team that holds second place in the world rankings and defeated New Zealand, the current champion, in the semi-finals. Natasha Hunt and Zoe Harrison remain as the starting half-back pairing, while Zoe Aldcroft leads the team from the flanker position. England is considered the favorite to win in a rematch of the 2014 match, but is under pressure to prove its worth on the biggest stage, having reached the last six finals, winning only one.

“Our staff and players have worked hard to get to this stage of the tournament,” commented coach John Mitchell.

“Playing a World Cup final at the Allianz Stadium in front of a record 82,000 spectators is a major milestone for the sport. We are well prepared for the challenge against Canada. It’s number one versus number two in the world, and we know the match will demand a full 80 minutes. Our focus remains on staying in our process and executing effectively.”
