England Makes Drastic Changes to Face Samoa in the Women’s Rugby World Cup

England have made 13 changes to their lineup for their second Women’s Rugby World Cup match against Samoa, which will be played on Saturday in Northampton. Wing Jess Breach and centre Megan Jones are the only players to repeat in the starting eleven, having participated in the victory over the United States in last week’s opening match. In the backs line, Lucy Packer and Helena Rowland will play as scrum-half and fly-half, respectively, with Jade Shekells accompanying Jones in the center of the field.
Jess Breach
Jess Breach has been selected to play as a right winger against Samoa. Breach will move to the right wing, with Claudia Moloney-MacDonald on the left wing and Emma Sing as a defender. Up front, Kelsey Clifford, Lark Atkin-Davies and Sarah Bern will form the front row, with Lilli Ives Campion and Rosie Galligan in the lock. The third line will see the return of Marlie Packer as captain and open flanker, with Abi Burton on the blind side and Maddie Feaunati starting at number 8.

We have planned to give everyone playing time during the first two group stage matches and, with the exception of Holly [Aitchison], we have been able to execute it with this selection.

John Mitchell, Coach
Coach John Mitchell stated before the tournament that he had a plan for the teams ahead of the group stage.

Mitchell added: “Our new combination wants to take pride in each other and build on our performance against the United States in our inaugural match.” “It will be a great atmosphere for them in one of the most traditional rugby fields in the country. Everyone is excited to get on the field.”
