Zac Lomax Leaves Parramatta Eels
Rugby player Zac Lomax has been released from the remaining three years of his contract with the Parramatta Eels, the club announced on Sunday. Lomax will seek new opportunities outside the NRL.
Lomax’s departure comes amid speculation about his possible incorporation into R360, an emerging league.
Lomax, 26, joined the Eels from St George Illawarra after the 2024 season, with a contract estimated at $700,000 annually.
The release agreement was reached by the Eels, with the condition that Lomax does not join a rival NRL club without their consent.
The NRL has warned players and their agents about potential 10-year suspensions for joining the rebel league.
The league, privately owned and registered with the United Arab Emirates Rugby Federation, plans to have teams in London, Miami, Tokyo, Dubai, Boston, Cape Town, Lisbon and Madrid, and will hold a player draft in July.
Lomax’s anticipated exit frees up space in the salary cap for the Eels.
