Shortage of Red Roses shirts generates frustration among fans

The Red Roses’ fans are facing an unexpected problem before the start of the Women’s Rugby World Cup: a shortage of official jerseys. The situation, caused by production problems at the sports brand Castore, has generated an atmosphere of frustration among the English team’s supporters. The high demand for the t-shirts, especially the special edition for the World Cup, has quickly sold out the stocks in online stores. This has led some fans to turn to marketplaces like eBay, where the prices of the t-shirts have skyrocketed.

Noli Waterman and Maggie Alphonsi discuss England’s chances at the 2025 Women’s World Cup.In a statement, Castore confirmed the situation, attributing it to the great support of the Red Roses fans. The brand informed that the jerseys will be available in the stadiums where England matches are played. It is believed that an error in Castore’s order of the jerseys prevented production from being increased in time to meet demand during the tournament. While fans will be able to purchase the shirts at locations such as the Stadium of Light, supplies are expected to be limited. Castore took over as England’s official kit supplier in April, replacing Umbro. Although the regular Red Roses jersey, with O2 sponsorship, can still be purchased online, the special edition for the World Cup is the one that has sold out. The tournament regulations prohibit teams from displaying their own sponsorships on the front of the jersey, so the kit that the team will use in the coming weeks will not have a sponsor, but it will have the World Cup emblem.
