Dallas Stars Advance to the Western Conference Final
Thomas Harley scored on a power play 1:33 into overtime, securing the victory for the Dallas Stars and their berth in the Western Conference Final for the third consecutive season. The Stars defeated the top-seeded Winnipeg Jets by a score of 2-1 in Game 6 on Saturday night.
Mark Scheifele scored for the Jets, hours after the passing of his father. However, he also received a tripping penalty with 14.8 seconds remaining in regulation, allowing Dallas to begin overtime with a man advantage.
Sam Steel, who had previously scored for Dallas, was taken down by Scheifele, resulting in the penalty that defined the game.
The Stars will face Edmonton in the Western Conference Final, repeating last year’s series, and will host Game 1.
Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger made 22 saves, securing his sixth playoff series win in the last three seasons. Oettinger made an incredible save in regulation, denying a shot from Mason Appleton.
Hellebuyck, for his part, stopped 19 shots in the loss.
Steel scored his first playoff goal midway through the second period.
