Sharks Apologize for On-Screen Message During Hispanic Heritage Celebration
SAN JOSE, California – The San Jose Sharks issued an apology for a message that appeared on the stadium screen, which seemed to praise the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office, precisely during the celebration of Hispanic heritage. The message, from a fan, was displayed on the screen during the first intermission of Saturday night’s game against Pittsburgh. The message read: “SJ SHARKS FANS/WE LOVE ICE!! GO GET THEM, GUYS!”.The Sharks are in their ninth annual celebration of Hispanic heritage, an event known as “Noche de Los Tiburones”. The organization is investigating the origin of the message. The Sharks deeply regret that this message, which does not reflect the values of our organization, was not detected during our standard review process.
