Restricted free agent defenseman Dylan Samberg reached an agreement with the Winnipeg Jets to avoid a salary arbitration hearing, signing a three-year contract extension on Wednesday.

Although the team did not disclose the financial details, sources close to the matter reported that the agreement is worth $17.25 million, with an average annual value of $5.75 million. Samberg, 26, achieved his best career numbers last season, with six goals, 20 points, and a plus/minus differential of +34 in 60 games. In addition, he added three assists in 13 playoff games. Since being selected by Winnipeg in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Samberg has accumulated a total of 51 career points, with nine goals and 42 assists, in 216 games.
