Roman Josi Ready for Predators Camp After POTS Diagnosis

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi is in optimal condition and available for the start of training camp this Thursday. Josi was diagnosed with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) at the end of last season. “It feels great right now,” commented General Manager Barry Trotz. The Predators announced in June that they expected Josi to return for camp. The player was present in the first group of players on the ice on Thursday morning. Trotz explained that Josi was not feeling well last season. The winner of the Norris Trophy in 2020 and three-time All-Star, was limited to 53 games due to a concussion, playing his last game on February 25 against the Florida Panthers, now two-time Stanley Cup champions. Josi worked throughout the spring and summer with experts to manage her diagnosis. While POTS has no cure, it can be treated. Her symptoms include increased heart rate, dizziness, and fatigue.

“He’s one of the best defensemen in the National Hockey League,” Trotz said. “Having him back, renewed and confident in his understanding of the whole situation… he’s in a great moment.”

Josi, who turned 35 at the beginning of June, was one of the first six players selected for the Swiss Olympic team for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games. He has an eight-year, $72 million contract that runs through the 2027-28 season. He has played 962 games with 190 goals and 534 assists.
