Matthew Tkachuk Will Be Out Until December Due to Injury

The Florida Panthers’ star forward, Matthew Tkachuk, will miss a considerable amount of the season due to summer surgery. General Manager Bill Zito announced that Tkachuk is expected to be out of action until December while recovering from surgery to treat a sports hernia and a tear in the adductor muscle. Tkachuk’s recovery is being closely monitored, and the team will assess his progress based on several key benchmarks. The team also expects Tomas Nosek to be out indefinitely due to an injury sustained during the offseason.

“It will be months, for sure,” Zito said about Nosek.

Tkachuk had already dealt with these injuries during the past regular season, missing the last 25 games. Despite this, he managed to play in the playoffs, where the Panthers won their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship. Tkachuk’s surgery was performed in August. The start of the Panthers’ training camp is scheduled for Thursday. With an estimated return date in December, Tkachuk could still have time to prepare for the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games in February, where he is expected to play for the United States hockey team. In the playoffs, Tkachuk accumulated 23 points, including eight goals and 15 assists, in 23 games. He especially stood out in the Stanley Cup Final against Edmonton, where he scored seven points. The Panthers won the series in six games. The first regular season game for Florida will be at home against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 7th.
