Florida Panthers Secure Mackie Samoskevich for One Season
The current Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers, have reached an agreement to renew the contract of forward Mackie Samoskevich for one season. The agreement, according to reports, is worth $775,000, the minimum established by the league. Samoskevich, 22, completed his first full season with the Panthers in 2024-25, accumulating a total of 31 points, distributed in 15 goals and 16 assists, in addition to recording 12 penalty minutes, 32 blocks, and 134 hits in 72 regular season games. His 15 goals positioned him as the seventh rookie with the most goals in the club’s history. In addition, five of those goals proved decisive for the victory, tying Carter Verhaeghe at the top of the team. In the playoffs, Samoskevich contributed an assist in four games, while the Panthers revalidated their Stanley Cup champion title.Samoskevich also participated in seven regular season games in 2023-24. The Panthers selected Samoskevich with the 24th pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, coming from the University of Michigan.Mackie is a talented young forward who demonstrated skill and maturity beyond his age in his first full season in the NHL.
