Josh Norris Shines in Return with the Sabres
Buffalo Sabres center Josh Norris matched his personal best for points in a single game during the 5-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night. This match marked a triumphant return for Norris after recovering from an upper-body injury sustained in the first game of the season. Norris scored two goals and assisted on the first goal of the game, just 2:46 minutes after the start. His second goal extended the Sabres’ lead to a resounding 5-1, less than a minute into the third period. This was Norris’s sixth three-point game and the first since January 30 against Washington, when he played for Ottawa. In that same match, he also scored a goal and provided an assist in the first half.Norris, 26, was selected in the first round of the draft by the San Jose Sharks in 2017. He has faced injury problems and has only played his fifth game with Buffalo since being acquired in a trade last season. The Sabres, his first new team after spending part of his first six seasons with the Senators, hoped he would take on a more important role, so this game could give him a much-needed boost. Norris was injured in the 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers on October 9, in the season opener. It’s speed combined with puck support. The puck support was very good, very evident, and led to goals. It was a night where we were really connected.
