Los Ángeles – Meredith Gaudreau starred in an emotional moment when announcing the first selection of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL draft on Friday night. This event took place ten months after the tragic death of her husband, John Gaudreau, and her brother, who lost their lives while riding bicycles on the eve of her sister’s wedding. The atmosphere in the Peacock Theater was charged with emotion, with fans chanting “Johnny! Johnny!” in tribute to the player known as “Johnny Hockey”. The ovation for Meredith was deafening as she took the floor.
Gaudreau announced the selection of Jackson Smith, who described the experience as surreal. Smith, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude for being part of this touching moment. It was incredible. Seeing the support in the stands, in the crowd, for the Gaudreau family, it was an incredible moment, so being chosen right after that made it even more special for me.I want to thank each team and every fan for the support given to my family during the past season.
