SUNRISE, Florida – Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog suffered an injury during the second period of the game against the Florida Panthers, resulting in a 2-1 defeat.
Landeskog, after losing his balance, hit the goal post before stopping in front of the boards. Colorado’s medical staff attended to him on the ice, and he had to be helped off the ice.
Colorado coach Jared Bednar told the press that Landeskog will be out for a while.
Landeskog was fundamental in the 2022 Stanley Cup victory. Previously, he missed almost three years due to a chronic injury in his right knee, which required several interventions. He returned for five games in last season’s playoffs.
In Sunday’s play, his left knee appeared to give way just before the collision with the post.
Landeskog has played in all 41 of Colorado’s games this season, contributing to the team’s historic start. The Avalanche have a record of 31-3-7 and the second-most points after 41 games in NHL history.
This season, Landeskog has scored seven goals and provided 15 assists. In addition, he had been selected to represent Sweden in the upcoming Milan Cortina Olympic Games.
