Seattle Kraken Bolsters Offense with Mason Marchment
The Seattle Kraken ice hockey team has secured forward Mason Marchment, coming from the Dallas Stars, in a strategic move that promises to strengthen their offense. The transaction, announced on Thursday, involves the transfer of a fourth-round pick in 2025 and a third-round pick in 2026 by the Kraken. Marchment, 30 years old and with an imposing height of 6 feet 5 inches, tied his personal record with 22 goals last season, in addition to registering 25 assists in 62 regular season games. The Stars, for their part, were looking to free up salary space, given that Marchment’s contract, with a cap hit of $4.5 million, was in its final year. This decision comes in a context where Dallas faces financial pressures, especially after the signing of Mikko Rantanen, acquired at the trade deadline, with an eight-year contract and $96 million. In his NHL career, Marchment has accumulated 76 goals and 113 assists in 302 regular season games, playing for the Stars, Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs. In the playoffs, he has recorded 11 goals and eight assists in 59 games.Mason brings an important skill set to our team. He is a veteran player who combines size, skill, and toughness. He knows what it takes to win, having been part of deep postseason runs with the Stars. We are excited for him to join our group.
