Adrian Kempe Secures His Future with the Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings have finalized the signing of a new eight-year contract with winger Adrian Kempe, the team announced this Monday. The agreement represents an investment of $10.625 million annually.
Kempe’s renewal was a priority for the Kings, especially in anticipation of the possible retirement of captain Anze Kopitar at the end of the season. Negotiations between both parties extended for several months, and sources close to the situation indicate that Kempe accepted a slightly lower salary, demonstrating his desire to remain in Los Angeles, where he hopes to have chances to win the Stanley Cup.
The contract extends until the 2033-34 season. Kempe, 29 years old and originally from Sweden, has developed his entire ten-year professional career with the Kings, after being selected in the first round of the 2014 draft.
Kempe, who has been the Kings’ top scorer for the last two seasons, has six goals and 19 points in the 19 games played this season.
