Kyle Connor Secures His Future with the Jets: Million-Dollar Extension

The Winnipeg Jets have secured the permanence of their offensive star, Kyle Connor, by signing an eight-year, $96 million contract extension, marking the most lucrative deal in franchise history. Connor, one of the team’s most consistent players, was selected by Winnipeg in the 17th position in 2015. Since then, he has proven his worth by scoring 30 or more goals in seven of his eight full seasons in the NHL, surpassing the 40-goal mark in two of the last four campaigns. In the 2024-25 season, Connor achieved a personal record with 56 assists and 97 points in 82 games. Furthermore, he is among the top 20 NHL scorers in goals (153) and points (331) since 2021. Connor’s renewal is crucial for the Jets to maintain their competitiveness in the Western Conference, especially after an outstanding season in which they led the league with 116 points, although they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs against Dallas. The Jets’ core includes Hart and Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, top center Mark Scheifele, and defenseman Josh Morrissey. Connor, 28, joins Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi, and Neal Pionk as Jets players with contracts extending to 2030. This could be a significant year for Connor, who represented Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February and participated in their Olympic orientation camp during the summer, preparing for the return of NHL players to the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games. The Jets will play their first game of the season on Thursday at home against the Stars.
