Kyle Connor Signs Million-Dollar Extension with the Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have secured the continuity of their offensive star, Kyle Connor, with an eight-year, $96 million contract extension, just before the start of the regular season.

This agreement represents the most lucrative contract in the franchise’s history, a recognition of Connor’s consistent performance. Selected by Winnipeg in 2015, Connor has proven to be a prolific scorer, surpassing 30 goals in seven of his eight full NHL seasons.

In the 2024-25 season, Connor reached a career-high with 56 assists and 97 points in 82 games, solidifying himself among the top 20 NHL scorers in goals (153) and points (331) since 2021.

Last season, Winnipeg led the league with 116 points, although their playoff run was stopped in the second round against Dallas. Connor’s renewal was crucial for the Jets to maintain their position as contenders in the Western Conference. The team’s core also includes goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, winner of the Hart and Vezina trophies, center Mark Scheifele, and defenseman Josh Morrissey.

Connor, 28, joins Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi and Neal Pionk, who also have contracts in effect until 2030.

This could be a significant year for Connor, who represented Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February and participated in the Olympic orientation camp during the summer, preparing for the return of NHL players to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games.

Winnipeg will play its first game of the season on Thursday at home against the Stars.
