Jamie Benn Re-signs with the Dallas Stars
Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn has signed a one-year contract with incentives, as announced on Thursday. The Benn agreement includes a base salary of $1 million, plus an additional $3 million in performance bonuses. He will receive $500,000 for playing in 20, 30, 50, and 60 games during the 2025-26 season, and another $500,000 if the Stars win the Western Conference final, as well as an additional $500,000 if the team wins the Stanley Cup. Considering his recent performance, Benn has a good chance of reaching the incentives for games played, as he has only missed two games in the last four seasons.Benn, who will turn 36 next month, accumulated 49 points (16 goals, 33 assists) last season, his sixteenth with the franchise. The forward has been captain of Dallas since September 19, 2013. Benn completed an eight-year contract that had a $9.5 million impact on the salary cap. Winner of the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s top scorer in the 2014-15 season, Benn ranks second in franchise history in goals (399), points (956), and games played (1,192), behind only Hall of Famer Mike Modano (557, 1,359, 1,459) and is third in assists (557). Benn was selected by the Stars in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL draft.Jamie embodies everything it means to be a Dallas Star, and he has done so since he was drafted 18 years ago. There was never any doubt that Jamie would return next season, and we are thrilled both for our organization and for our fans that he will continue to lead our team in our quest to win a championship.
