Jaromir Jagr, at 53 years old, begins his 38th season in professional hockey
The legendary hockey player, Jaromir Jagr, 53 years old, has begun his 38th season as a professional. He did so by playing on the fourth line for the Kladno Knights, his hometown team, in a 3-1 victory against Vitkovice in the Czech league. Jagr, who has had a distinguished career in hockey, recorded 10:08 minutes of playing time and participated in the power play team. His season debut was delayed due to a muscle problem. This was the 15th game of the season for Kladno. Jagr, at that moment, was 53 years and 244 days old.
Jagr debuted with Kladno at age 16 and returned to the club in 2018 after being released by the Calgary Flames. Currently, Jagr is second on the NHL’s career points list, surpassed only by Wayne Gretzky. With 766 goals in the NHL, which places him in fourth place historically, Jagr played 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, winning the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 1991 and 1992. He makes his presence felt in the locker room. We have a lot of fun with him. Until the beginning of this year, Jagr combined his role as a player for Kladno with that of owner, dividing his time between finding sponsors and administrative tasks, in addition to his time on the ice. In 2017, Jagr acquired full ownership of the team and sold a majority stake in January to financially boost the team. Jagr expressed his desire to complete the season and lead Kladno to the playoffs for the first time. They failed to reach the playoffs. Therefore, they have another chance this season.
