Adam Fox to Long-Term Injured Reserve

New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox has been placed on the long-term injured reserve list due to an upper-body injury. Sources close to the team indicate that the injury is considered “week-to-week”. After a second medical opinion on Sunday, it was determined that the injury is not serious in the long term. This suggests that their participation in the Olympic Games in February should not be affected. However, upon being placed on the LTIR (Long-Term Injured Reserve), Fox will be out of action for a minimum of 10 games and 24 days. Fox suffered the injury on Saturday during the 4-1 defeat against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was hit against the boards by Brandon Hagel and left the game early. He was seen holding his left arm as he headed to the locker room and did not return to the game. The defenseman has three goals and 23 assists in 27 games, tying Artemi Panarin for the team lead in points (26) this season.

Although the news about the injury is not as serious as initially thought, Fox’s absence represents a challenge for the Rangers (13-12-2), who are currently outside the playoff zone. The star player will be out until approximately Christmas.

Lists for the Olympic Games must be submitted by December 31. Fox, originally from Long Island, was part of the United States team in the Four Nations last February.
