Nick Foligno Steps Away from Blackhawks for Family Reasons
The Chicago Blackhawks captain, Nick Foligno, has requested a leave of absence because his 12-year-old daughter will undergo follow-up surgery related to congenital heart disease. The team made the announcement this Wednesday, without offering further comment on the matter.Foligno is in his third season with the Blackhawks. So far, the forward has zero goals and two assists in four games played.
In September 2024, Foligno was named the thirty-fifth captain of the team, one of the six original NHL teams. His father, Mike, also had a distinguished career in the NHL, playing for 15 years. His brother, Marcus, currently plays for the Minnesota Wild.
The Blackhawks face the St. Louis Blues in an away game this Wednesday night.
