Blackhawks Captain Nick Foligno Out with Injury

Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno will be out of action for four weeks due to a hand injury sustained on Saturday during the 3-2 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to coach Jeff Blashill. Foligno’s injury occurred with 90 seconds left in the second period. The player was near the Blackhawks’ defensive zone when a shot by Jake McCabe deflected the puck, hitting his hand. Foligno, visibly affected, went to the bench and did not return for the third period. In the game, he accumulated three shots on goal and a playing time of 10:41 minutes. The absence of Foligno, who has recorded six points in 15 games, represents a significant loss for the Blackhawks. The player serves as a center on the fourth line, forming part of a combination with Sam Lafferty and Landon Slaggert. This injury adds to that of Jason Dickinson, who is already on the injured list.

After a previous season with few points, the Blackhawks (9-5-4) have become one of the most outstanding surprises at the start of the regular season. With their victory against the Maple Leafs, the team is positioned in third place in the Central Division, tied, and one point ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken in the race for the wild card of the Western Conference.
