Haydn Fleury Returns to the Jets After Ice Accident
WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Winnipeg Jets player Haydn Fleury rejoined the team this Wednesday after suffering a serious collision with the boards during the game and being taken off the ice on a stretcher. Coach Scott Arniel reported that Fleury, who spent the night in the hospital, suffered a broken nose and a back contusion. In addition, Arniel indicated that it has not yet been determined if the 29-year-old player suffered a concussion. After the game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, the Jets announced that Fleury was fully conscious and could move his limbs. The team has placed Fleury on the injured list, which means he will be out of action for at least the next three games. Fleury took a hit to the chest from Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar during the first period. Kolesar was not penalized for the play. As a show of support for Fleury, the entire Winnipeg bench came onto the ice as he was being removed. When the game resumed, Winnipeg captain Adam Lowry fought Kolesar.“He was pretty banged up,” Arniel commented. “He felt it. But it’s great to see him here today and back in the locker room.”
