Jack Hughes Leaves Game with Injury, Concern for the Devils and the US Olympic Team
New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes left Thursday night’s game against Nashville due to an injury, generating concern among fans and the team.
Coach Sheldon Keefe reported that it was a lower-body injury and that Hughes would be re-evaluated on Friday. Despite Hughes’s departure, the Devils secured an overtime victory against the Predators, with a score of 3-2.
Hughes only participated in three shifts during the game, totaling 2 minutes and 27 seconds of ice time.
This recent absence of Hughes occurs after the player missed five weeks at the start of the season due to a right thumb injury, which required surgery on November 15.
The situation generates uncertainty, as Hughes is two weeks away from participating in the Milan Cortina Olympic Games with the United States team.
The U.S. team has already made a change to its 25-player roster, with Jackson LaCombe replacing injured defenseman Seth Jones.
Hughes, along with his brother Quinn, will participate in the Olympic Games for the first time. The United States has two sets of brothers on the team, including Matthew and Brady Tkachuk.
