Sidney Crosby Leaves Game with Injury
OTTAWA, Ontario – Penguins captain Sidney Crosby left Thursday night’s game against the Senators in the second period due to a lower-body injury. This occurred just a week after his return from a similar injury sustained in the Olympics with Team Canada.
Crosby played an initial shift of 38 seconds in the second period before heading to the tunnel towards the locker room. Previously, he had also gone to the tunnel after his last shift of the first period, apparently after getting his left leg tangled in a collision.
The Penguins later announced that he would not return to the game. Coach Dan Muse, after the game, stated that he had no updated information on Crosby’s condition.
Crosby finished with one shot on goal in nine shifts during the Penguins’ 4-3 shootout victory over the Senators.
The 38-year-old center missed 11 games with the Penguins after getting injured in a quarterfinal Olympic game on February 18. Crosby returned to action in Carolina on March 18 with a goal and an assist, and had recorded an assist in each of Pittsburgh’s last three games. He leads the team with 28 goals and 64 points in 61 games.
